Concrete Patios in Brampton
We pour concrete patios, gazebo slabs and pool decks across Brampton. Most Brampton patios go onto newer lots where the builder left a bare backyard, on heavy Peel clay that heaves with frost and drains slowly. So we dig to firm ground, compact a granular base, slope the slab away from the house and pour air-entrained 32 MPa concrete. Union-certified crews, a free written quote and a lifetime warranty on labour.

In Mount Pleasant, Springdale, Sandalwood, Credit Valley and Castlemore, the builder usually pours the driveway and the garage floor and leaves the backyard bare. The patio comes later, and it is often the first real flatwork the owner adds. In the older streets around the Four Corners, the job is more often an old patio or step that has settled and needs to come out. See our Brampton page for everything else we do in the city.
A patio is a drainage job that is also a nice place to sit. The full method and specs are on our concrete patios page. This page covers what Brampton ground and Brampton homes change about that job.
Peel clay: the base decides how long a patio lasts
Brampton sits on the Peel clay plain. That heavy clay swells when it is wet, heaves when frost gets under a slab, and drains so slowly that it holds melt and rain for weeks. A patio poured on clay that was not dug out and compacted moves in the first hard winter and cracks where the base gives way.
So we excavate to firm ground and compact a granular base in lifts. We pour air-entrained 32 MPa concrete, which resists freeze-thaw and road salt, and we slope the slab about 2 percent away from the house so water does not collect against the wall.
New lots: builder fill and a backyard that is still settling
On a new survey, builder fill and topsoil are often left in the backyard. Concrete on that material has nothing solid under it, so we take it out before we build the base.
A new lot also keeps settling for a season or two, and the grading can still move water the wrong way. If you just took possession, let the lot come through its first spring before the permanent pour. Ask for the quote in spring, because the newer neighbourhoods all want the same summer slots.
Older streets: keep the water off the wall
Around the Four Corners and downtown, the clay holds melt against older foundations. A patio that is flat, or that has sunk toward the house, sends every rain and spring melt to that wall. Before we pour against an older home we look at where the downspouts empty and how the yard drains, and we set the slope away from the house.
If the wall already lets water in, we tell you before we pour on top of the problem. We can look at basement waterproofing in Brampton first.
Gazebos, pool decks and scheduling
A pad that carries a gazebo is not ordinary patio space. Bring the gazebo plan to the site visit, and we plan the base, the reinforcement and the edge for that structure. We quote the patio and the pad as one job.
Brampton is east of our home routes, so we book Brampton jobs into planned trips to the area and give you a real date, not a same-week promise. We reply to every request within one business day.
Straight answers
We just moved into a new Brampton subdivision. When can we pour a patio?
Usually after the first spring. A new lot keeps settling for a season or two, and a patio poured too early can sink or tip toward the wall. We look at the ground and grading on the site visit and tell you if the lot is ready. Ask for the quote in spring for a better summer slot.
Why do patios crack on Brampton clay?
Usually because of what is under them. Heavy Peel clay heaves with frost, and builder fill left in a backyard gives a slab nothing firm to sit on. We dig to firm ground and compact a granular base before we pour.
How much does a concrete patio cost in Brampton?
The finish you pick and how easily a concrete truck can reach the backyard set most of the number. Size, the base the clay needs and any steps or levels set the rest. We do not post a flat rate that would mislead you. The site visit and the written quote are free, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.
Can you pour a pad for a gazebo or a pool deck in Brampton?
Yes. Bring the plan to the visit. We plan the base, reinforcement and edge for the structure before the pour and quote the patio and pad together.
