Concrete Slabs & Garage Pads in Brampton
We pour garage pads, shed pads, hot tub pads and detached garage floors across Brampton, from the new surveys in Mount Pleasant, Springdale, Sandalwood, Credit Valley and Castlemore to the older streets around the Four Corners. Brampton sits on heavy Peel clay, so the base under a pad decides whether it stays level. Union-certified crews, a free written quote that holds, and a lifetime warranty on labour.

A builder on a new Brampton lot pours the bare driveway strip and the garage floor, then leaves the rest for the owner. A pad for a second car, a workshop, a shed or a hot tub is usually the first thing a family adds. Brampton is built on heavy Peel clay, with Chinguacousy clay running through it. That clay swells when it is wet and heaves when frost gets under a slab. See our Brampton page for everything else we do in the city.
So we dig down to firm ground and compact a Granular A base before we pour. Garage floors get 125 to 150 mm of 32 MPa air-entrained concrete on a 10M rebar grid, with the edges thickened to about 300 mm. Shed and hot tub pads get mesh. The full method is on our concrete slabs and garage pads page. This page covers what Brampton ground and Brampton lots change about the job.
New lots: builder fill and topsoil under the pad
On the new surveys the builder often leaves fill and topsoil where a pad is going. Concrete laid straight on that has nothing solid to sit on, and a pad can lift and crack the first hard winter. We dig out to firm ground, bring in granular base and compact it in lifts before we pour.
If you plan to widen the driveway as well, pour the pad and the widening on the same day: a small pour is cheapest when it shares a truck. Our Brampton driveway page covers that side of the job.
Peel clay: drainage under and around the pad
Clay drains slowly and holds melt and rain for weeks. The low ground along Etobicoke Creek and Chinguacousy Park drains worse still. Water held in the ground freezes, and frost lifts what sits on it, so the base has to be deep enough to drain.
A pad beside the house must also send water away from the wall, not toward it. Where a wall already runs damp in a wet spring, we tell you, and we can look at basement waterproofing in Brampton first.
Garage floors, workshops and planning the job
A detached garage floor wants anchor bolts set in the wet concrete and a gentle slope toward the door so snowmelt off the car drains out. The written quote names the reinforcement, the edges and the anchors, so you can compare it with any other quote.
Brampton is east of our home routes, reached up the 401, 407 and 410, so pads here book onto planned trips into the area with a real date, not a same-week promise. Keep vehicles off a new garage floor for at least 48 hours.
Straight answers
We just took possession in a new Brampton subdivision. When should we pour a garage pad or shed pad?
Once the lot has come through its first spring. A fresh lot keeps settling for a season or two, and the grading around a new build can still be moving water the wrong way. We look at how the ground behaves on the site visit and tell you if it is ready. Quoting in spring also gets you a better summer slot.
Will a pad on Brampton clay heave in winter?
A floating pad still rides some minor frost movement, but a well-built one moves as one piece instead of tilting or cracking. Peel clay swells when wet and heaves with frost, so we dig to firm ground, compact a granular base deep enough to drain, and slope the pad so water runs away from the wall.
Rebar or mesh for a garage pad in Brampton?
Rebar for anything that carries a vehicle: a 10M grid at 400 mm, with thickened edges on a floating garage slab. Mesh is right for light pads like sheds and hot tubs. The written quote names the reinforcement.
How much does a concrete pad cost in Brampton?
Size sets the start, then the load the pad carries, its thickness and reinforcement, the base your ground needs, and how easily the concrete can reach the spot. A flat rate posted online would only mislead you. You get a free written quote after a site visit, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.
