Concrete Contractors in Pickering
Pickering splits into two concrete markets, and we work both. The older lakeshore neighbourhoods like Bay Ridges, West Shore and Rosebank need repair, parging and basement waterproofing near a high water table. Seaton and the growth in the north want driveways, patios and garage pads. Union-certified crews do the work, quotes are free, and a lifetime warranty backs the labour.
Pickering is a city of about 99,000 sitting at the west edge of Durham, where the region meets Toronto across the Rouge River. It is the first lakeshore city you reach coming east out of Scarborough, which puts it at the far end of the GTA from where our crews are based. The Pickering Nuclear station stands on the lake at Frenchman's Bay, and Pickering City Centre by the GO line is being rebuilt into a downtown with towers and a new library.
The housing splits by age and by where it sits on the land. The south end along the lake, Bay Ridges, West Shore, Rosebank, Dunbarton and Liverpool, holds the older stock, much of it built from the 1950s through the 1970s when these neighbourhoods filled in. North of there, Seaton is rising on land that was farm fields a few years ago, one of the larger new communities in the region, and it keeps adding streets of houses that arrive without a finished yard.
So the work runs two directions. The lakeshore cores need honest repair: parging that has flaked off block, front steps that have settled, basements that take on water through an unsealed wall every spring. Seaton and the newer surveys want the pours a builder leaves for the owner, a real patio out back, a garage pad, a driveway widened past the strip the builder poured.

What the ground here does to concrete
Pickering gives you different ground depending on how close you are to the lake. The south end sits on the old Lake Iroquois shoreline plain, where the soil runs to clay near the water and the table sits high under the older streets. That is the combination that floods basements: clay holds melt and rain against a foundation wall, and a wall built before modern sealing lets it through. It is why waterproofing, crack injection and parging carry the south end of this city.
Move north and the land turns rural and rolling toward the headwater country, with the Oak Ridges Moraine sand sitting under the top of the region. Seaton is built on glacial till that heaves when frost reaches under a thin slab, so a driveway or patio out there lives or dies on base depth and compaction. Across the whole city you get the lakeshore winter, freeze spray off Lake Ontario near the shore, hard freeze-thaw swings, and road salt that chews exposed concrete every season.
Around Pickering
We take jobs across all of Pickering. In the lakeshore neighbourhoods, Bay Ridges by Frenchman's Bay, West Shore, Rosebank along the Rouge, Dunbarton and Liverpool, the work leans to repair, parging and waterproofing because the homes are older and the water table is close. In Seaton and the newer northern surveys the work leans to driveways, patios, walkways and garage pads. Out in the rural hamlets like Claremont and Greenwood the lots are bigger and take the larger flatwork.
Pickering sits at the far west edge of Durham, the east side of Toronto and a long drive from our home routes, so we hold Pickering jobs for planned trips into the area and give you firm dates rather than a same-week or same-day promise.
Our Bay Ridges basement takes on water every spring. Can that be fixed?
Usually, yes. The south end of Pickering sits on the Lake Iroquois shoreline plain where the water table runs high and the clay holds melt against the wall, and a lot of the older lakeshore homes were built before walls were sealed to today's standard. Water finds the weak spot and pressure pushes it through. Depending on what the inspection turns up, the fix is crack injection, parging the wall, regrading the grade outside, or waterproofing from the inside or the outside. We chase the source first, then fit the system the wall actually needs.
We just moved into a new build in Seaton with a bare backyard. When should we pour a patio?
Wait until the lot has been through a season. Seaton sits on glacial till that keeps settling after the builder backfills, so we like to see the ground settle and watch how water moves across the yard before pouring, which usually means after the first spring. We check compaction before any patio or walkway goes down. Spring is the time to get a quote, because the pouring season fills up fast out there in summer.
Why is the older driveway on my West Shore or Dunbarton street cracking and lifting?
Age plus what is under it. A driveway poured in the 60s or 70s rarely got the base depth we build to now, and once frost gets under a thin slab near the lake it heaves and the panel cracks. Water sits in the crack, freezes, and opens it wider every winter. Past a point, resurfacing is throwing good money after bad, and removing the old slab and pouring fresh on a proper base is the cheaper road across the next twenty years.
How much does a concrete driveway or patio cost in Pickering?
It comes down to the size, the finish, the shape the base and soil are in, how easy the site is to reach, and the time of year, so we will not post a flat figure that would only mislead you. A broom finish is the most affordable, stamped and decorative cost more. You get a firm written number after a free site visit, and the number we give you is the number you pay.
Pickering is at the far edge of Durham. Do you actually drive out there?
We do. Pickering is a long haul from our home routes at the west end of the region, so we do not pretend to be around the corner. We book Pickering work into trips we are already planning into the area and give you real dates. Small jobs like a section of walkway, a front step or a parging touch-up ride along on the same trips and carry the labour warranty like a full driveway.
