Concrete Repair and Resurfacing in Fonthill, Ontario
We repair cracked, sunken and worn concrete across Fonthill: crack injection, slab levelling, resurfacing, step rebuilds and sealing. Fonthill sits on a sand-and-gravel kame that drains fast, so a slab here can fail because water washes out its base, and we check for that before we quote. We say plainly when a repair will not hold and replacement is the better spend. The quote is free and written, you get a reply within one business day, and the labour carries our lifetime warranty.

Fonthill has two kinds of concrete. East Fonthill is newer, and its patios, pads and driveways are still young. The older streets up the hill, around Highway 20 and toward Lookout Point, hold driveways on their second life, front steps that have shifted and walks broken up by tree roots.
Most of that concrete does not need to come out. A crack can be injected, a sunken slab levelled, a worn surface ground and resurfaced. The full method for each is on our concrete repair and resurfacing page. This page is about what Fonthill's ground changes about the job.
Why Fonthill slabs move: washed-out bases as well as frost
The Fonthill Kame is a glacial hill of sand and gravel. It drains faster than the clay under most of Niagara, so frost has a harder time building the ice under a slab that lifts it. Loose granular ground has a different weakness. Water running along an edge can scour the base out from under a slab over a few wet springs, most of all on the steeper south and east faces of the hill.
So a Fonthill repair starts with the cause. We check the base, the grade and where the downspouts send their water before we quote. A crack filled over a slab that is still settling can open again, and a slab levelled while runoff keeps cutting along its edge can sink again.
Steps, walks and driveways on the older streets
On the older streets, a step or walk that has shifted can come from washed-out bedding, tree roots or an old pour past its service life, as well as frost. When the concrete is sound and only the surface is tired, we grind and resurface it. When a step has sunk or its edge has broken, we re-support it or form and re-pour it with an air-entrained 32 MPa mix on a compacted base.
Once a slab is broken across several panels or the base has washed out beneath it, another patch is money wasted. Removal and a fresh pour on a recompacted granular base is the honest call, and the written quote tells you which side of that line your concrete is on.
Newer lots in East Fonthill
In East Fonthill, around Summersides Village, Saffron Estates and the newer surveys near the Meridian Community Centre, the ground is disturbed soil that keeps settling for a season or two. A slab or step that tips toward the house early on may be sitting on a settling base. We assess it on site, and levelling can be the repair.

Straight answers
Should I repair or replace the cracked concrete at my Fonthill home?
It depends on the base. Repair wins when the damage is local and the base under it is still sound: one or two cracks, a step that settled on one side, surface pitting or a broken edge. Replacement wins when the slab has cracked all over, the base has washed out across the area, or the surface has scaled so deep there is nothing sound to bond to. The written quote says which side of that line your concrete is on, and why.
Why did my Fonthill slab sink when the ground drains so well?
Fast-draining sand and gravel can wash. Water running along a slab edge, or a downspout emptying beside it, can carry the base out from under the concrete over a few wet springs. We find where the water goes, fix that, and then level or replace the slab.
Can you fix the front steps on an older Fonthill house instead of replacing them?
Often, yes. If the steps are still sound underneath, we can grind and resurface worn treads and rebuild broken edges. If they have sunk or the base has failed, we re-support them or pour new steps on a compacted base.
How much does concrete repair cost in Fonthill?
There is no honest flat rate. The cost moves with the size of the area, how far the damage goes, the condition of the base, access and the season. The visit and the written quote are free, and the number on the quote is the number on the invoice unless you change the job.
