Concrete Removal & Demolition in Brampton

We break out and haul away old driveways, patios, walkways, steps and slabs across Brampton. On the newer surveys, removal is usually a builder's bare strip or a small pad coming out to make room for a wider driveway or a proper patio. In the older core around the Four Corners, it is more often a settled slab or step that has moved. Either way the Peel clay decides what happens next, so we check the base once the concrete is out. Quotes are free and written, with breakout, hauling, disposal and grading itemized.

Brampton sits on heavy Peel clay. That clay swells when it is wet, heaves when frost gets under a slab and drains so slowly that it holds melt and rain for weeks, so a lot of the concrete we take out here has moved. See our Brampton page for everything else we do in the city.

The removal itself follows our usual method: utility locates before any machine digs, saw cuts where old concrete meets concrete that stays, mesh and rebar cut free, and the old concrete sent to a recycler, not a landfill. The full method is on our concrete removal and demolition page. This page covers what Brampton ground and Brampton homes change about that job.

Newer surveys: making room for the bigger pour

In Mount Pleasant, Springdale, Sandalwood, Credit Valley and Castlemore, the builder poured a bare strip of driveway and the garage floor and left the rest for the owner. Removal here is usually a narrow driveway coming out ahead of a wider one, or a small pad making way for a proper patio or a second-car pad.

Builder fill and topsoil are often left where a driveway or pad is going, and concrete on that has nothing solid under it. When we take the old strip out, we dig to firm ground and rebuild the base before anything new goes in. Doing the tear-out and the new pour with one crew means the base is rebuilt while the ground is open. See concrete driveways in Brampton and concrete patios in Brampton for what goes back in.

The older core: find out why the slab moved

Around the Four Corners and downtown, many steps, walks and driveways have been through decades of winters on clay. Water held under a slab freezes and lifts it. When an old slab has heaved or tipped toward the house, taking it out is the easy part. The useful part is what we see once it is out.

With the old concrete gone, we look at the base under it, where the downspouts empty and how the ground drains. If the base held water, we dig it out and rebuild it. If the slab sloped toward an older foundation, we tell you, and we can look at basement waterproofing in Brampton while the ground beside the wall is open.

Tight yards, small jobs and booking

A small machine needs about a 36 inch gate. Where it cannot get through, the concrete is broken by hand and carried out, which takes longer. We decide the machine path at the site visit, so the lawn, the fence and the neighbour's side are planned for, not found out on the day.

Brampton is east of our home routes, so removal here books onto planned trips into the area with real dates, not a same-week promise. Small jobs, like one walkway or an old shed pad, are welcome. We reply to every request within one business day.

Questions

Straight answers

Why did my driveway or steps in Brampton heave, and will a new one do the same?

Brampton sits on Peel clay that swells when wet and heaves with frost. Water held under a slab freezes and lifts it. When we take the old slab out, we check the base and the drainage, and fix what moved it before the new pour. A new slab on the same wet base would move the same way.

Can you take out concrete in a backyard with a narrow gate?

Yes. Our smallest machines clear about a 36 inch gate. If there is no machine access, we break the concrete by hand and carry it out. It takes longer, so we put it in the written quote after the site visit.

How much does concrete removal cost in Brampton?

The thickness of the slab, how much mesh and rebar is in it, and how a machine reaches it set most of the cost. A flat rate posted online would only mislead you. You get a free written quote after a site visit, with breakout, hauling, disposal and grading itemized, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.

What happens to the old concrete?

Clean concrete goes to a recycler and is crushed into road base. The mesh and rebar are cut free and recycled on their own.
