Concrete Patios in Caledon
We pour concrete patios, gazebo slabs and pool decks across Caledon, from backyard patios in Bolton to big patios behind country houses on estate lots. The base is set to the ground under the yard: fast-draining sand and gravel on the Oak Ridges Moraine, or clay that holds water on the low ground. Union-certified crews, a free written quote, and a lifetime warranty on labour. Caledon books into planned trips with firm dates.

A Caledon patio depends on the property. In Bolton and the older village cores, it is a backyard patio behind a town house. Out on the farms and estate lots between the villages, it is often a larger patio behind a country house, sometimes with a gazebo or a pool deck beside it.
Either way, a patio is a drainage job that is also a nice place to sit. We slope the slab about 2 percent away from the house, use 32 MPa air-entrained concrete for the freeze-thaw winters, and set it on a compacted granular base. The full method is on our concrete patios page. This page covers what Caledon ground and Caledon homes change about that job. See our Caledon page for everything else we do in town.
Moraine sand on one lot, wet clay on the next
Caledon sits where the Niagara Escarpment and the Oak Ridges Moraine meet. The moraine is a deep mix of sand and gravel that drains fast. Lower down, near the creeks and river flats, the ground is often heavy clay that holds water.
On moraine sand, frost heave is a smaller worry. The risk is that loose sand washes out or shifts under the slab, so we contain and compact the base and grade the patio so runoff leaves the concrete. On clay and wet low ground, water under a thin base freezes and lifts the slab, so the base goes deeper and is compacted in lifts.
Country houses and older farmhouses: keep the water off the wall
Older farmhouses and village homes were built before modern foundation sealing. A patio that is flat, or that has settled toward the house, sends every rain and every spring melt to that wall. That is how a new patio can turn into a wet basement.
Before we pour against an older home, we look at where the downspouts empty and how the yard drains. We set the slope away from the house and plan the joints around the shape of the patio. If the wall already lets water in, we tell you, and we can look at basement waterproofing in Caledon before a patio goes in on top of the problem.
Gazebos, pool decks and planning the pour
A pad that carries a gazebo is not ordinary patio space. Bring the gazebo plan to the site visit, and we plan the base, the reinforcement and the edge thickness for that structure. We quote the patio and the pad as one job.
Caledon is a long haul north from our home routes, so patios here book into planned trips with firm dates, not a same-week or same-day truck. We give you the pour date in advance so you can plan around it.
Straight answers
Our Caledon property is on sandy moraine ground. Is that good or bad for a concrete patio?
Both. Sand and gravel drain fast, so there is less frost heave than on clay. But loose sand can wash out or shift under a slab if the base is not contained and the water is not graded away. So on moraine lots we focus on a compacted, contained base and on moving runoff away from the concrete.
Will a new patio make my old Caledon farmhouse basement wetter?
Not if the patio is built right. We slope every patio about 2 percent away from the house and check where your downspouts empty. If the wall already lets water in, we tell you before we pour.
Can you pour a pad for a gazebo in Caledon?
Yes. Bring the gazebo plan to the visit. We plan the base, reinforcement and edge thickness for that structure before the pour, and quote the patio and the pad together.
How much does a concrete patio cost in Caledon?
The finish you pick, the size, how easily the concrete truck can reach the yard, and the base the ground needs all set the number. We do not post a flat rate that would only mislead you. The site visit and the written quote are free, and the number we give you is the number you pay.
