Concrete Driveways in Ingersoll
We pour new and replacement concrete driveways across Ingersoll. Most of the town sits on Thames valley clay-loam that holds water and lifts a slab on a thin base, so we build the base first: excavate to stable ground, compact granular in lifts, and pour air-entrained 32 MPa concrete. Union-certified crews, a free written quote, and a lifetime warranty on labour.

Ingersoll lies in the Thames valley on the clay-loam ground that covers most of central Oxford County. Clay holds melt and rain, and when that water freezes under a slab it pushes. That is why so many Ingersoll driveways have heaved at the control joints: the base under them was too thin for the ground.
So an Ingersoll driveway is decided under the concrete, not on pour day. The full spec lives on our concrete driveways page. This page is about what a driveway in Ingersoll needs in particular, and what to look at before you choose repair or replacement.
Clay-loam ground and frost
On clay, the fix for frost heave is depth and drainage, not thicker concrete. We dig to stable ground, build the granular base up in compacted lifts, and grade the driveway so melt runs off the slab and away from the house.
The concrete itself is air-entrained 32 MPa, an exterior mix made for freeze-thaw and de-icing salt. The tiny air voids give freezing water room to expand, so the surface does not flake in the first winters.
The CAMI-era streets: replace or repair
The subdivisions that followed the CAMI plant, which opened in 1989, are now 25 to 35 years old. That is the age when builder-grade driveways come due, often on the same street at the same time. Hairline cracks that stay put are cosmetic. Joints that have heaved, dropped or widened year over year mean the base is finished, and a resurface over a failed base buys a couple of seasons at best.
When the base is sound and only the surface is tired, concrete resurfacing can be the better choice. When it is not, we break out the old slab, haul it away, fix what lifted it, and pour fresh.
The older core and the newest surveys
Around Thames Street, the homes are Victorian and Edwardian brick. The newest surveys at the edge of town call for walkways, pads and patios as well as driveways. Where trucks or trailers park, we pour 125 mm instead of 100 mm.
Ingersoll books into our regular Oxford County routes with Woodstock and Beachville. A new slab needs vehicles kept off for 48 hours at least, and heavy trucks for 7 days, so plan the pour around when you need the car.
Straight answers
Our 1990s Ingersoll driveway has heaved at the joints. Can you replace it?
Yes. Heaved or dropped joints usually mean water held in the clay under a thin base. We tear out and haul away the old slab, excavate to stable ground, build a compacted granular base graded to drain, and pour air-entrained 32 MPa concrete.
Is resurfacing enough for an old Ingersoll driveway?
Only when the base is still sound. If the slab is level and the cracks are hairlines that stay put, resurfacing can renew the top. If the joints keep moving year over year, a new surface over a failed base will not last. We look at the slab and tell you which it is.
How long before we can drive on a new concrete driveway?
Stay off it on foot for 24 to 48 hours. Keep cars off for 48 hours at least, and keep heavy trucks off for 7 days.
How much does a concrete driveway cost in Ingersoll?
Size sets the start, then the finish, the base the ground needs, access, and whether an old slab has to come out. On Ingersoll clay the base can go deeper. We do not post a flat rate. A firm written quote comes after a free site visit, and the number on the quote is the number on the invoice unless you change the job.
