Concrete Slabs & Garage Pads in Uxbridge
My Concrete Pros pours garage pads, shed pads, hot tub pads, detached garage floors and shop and barn slabs across Uxbridge, from the village streets to estate lots out on the concessions. The township sits on the Oak Ridges Moraine, where the sand and gravel drain fast but can wash out from under an open slab edge, so we contain and compact the base before we pour. Quotes are free and written, and the labour carries a lifetime warranty.

A slab in Uxbridge may be the floor of a detached garage set back on a rural lot, a pad for a workshop or a hot tub, or a slab for a shop or barn. The ground under the township is the glacial sand and gravel of the Oak Ridges Moraine, not clay. Water soaks down through it, so a slab heaves less in winter than one on clay.
The same sand is the risk. Loose sand will not hold a base by itself, and on a sloped lot it can wash out from under an open edge. The full method is on our concrete slabs and garage pads page. This page covers what Uxbridge's moraine ground, its rural lots and its older homes change about the job.
Moraine sand: contain the edges, compact the base
On the clay down by the lake, the slab problem is water held under the pad that freezes and lifts it. On the moraine the problem moves to the edges. Sand that drains well can still carry a base away if the edges are left open and runoff runs along them.
So on an Uxbridge pad we dig to firm ground, place a compacted Granular A base and contain the edges so the base stays put. We pour 32 MPa air-entrained concrete, then, on garage and shed pads, set the slope so rain and meltwater leave the surface and do not run into the sand beside it. A hot tub pad is the exception: it is poured level. We read each lot for how water moves before we pour, and we decide the base details on site.
Garage, shop and barn slabs on rural lots
Much of the township is estate lots, hobby farms and hamlets like Goodwood, Sandford and Leaskdale. A detached garage floor wants anchor bolts set in the wet concrete and a gentle slope toward the door so melting snow drains out. We use 10M rebar grids for garage and shop slabs, and welded wire mesh for sheds and hot tubs. A shop or barn slab carries heavier loads, so tell us what goes on it and we match the reinforcement to the load.
Many of these lots have a long run from the road. We check access on the site visit. If the truck cannot get near the forms, the crew moves the mix by pump or by wheelbarrow, and that labour goes in the written quote up front. A new slab also needs vehicles kept off for at least 48 hours.
Pads beside older homes in the village core and hamlets
Homes in the heritage streets of the village, and in hamlets such as Goodwood, Sandford and Leaskdale, are often decades old. A pad beside an older house must send water away from the wall, not toward it. Wet basements are less common on the moraine than in the lakeshore towns, but they still happen where grading runs water toward the house. If a wall already lets water in, we tell you before we pour, and we can look at basement waterproofing in Uxbridge first.
Uxbridge is a planned trip, so book ahead
Uxbridge is in north Durham, well off our home routes in southwestern Ontario, so we group Uxbridge jobs into planned trips and give you real dates, not a same-week promise. Ask for the quote early if you want the pad ready for the season. We reply to every request within one business day.
Straight answers
My Uxbridge lot is sand and gravel. Is that good or bad for a garage pad?
Both. The moraine drains fast, so water is less likely to freeze under the slab and lift it. But loose sand can wash out from under an open edge, especially on a slope. We contain the edges, compact a granular base, and, on a garage or shed pad, slope it so rain runs off, not into the sand beside it. A hot tub pad is poured level.
Do you pour shop and barn slabs out on the concessions?
Yes. A shop or barn slab is flatwork like any other pad, but it carries heavier loads, so we match the reinforcement to what goes on it. We check access on the site visit and give you a written number before anything is booked.
Rebar or mesh for a pad in Uxbridge?
Rebar for a garage or shop slab that carries a vehicle or heavy load: a 10M grid. Welded wire mesh suits light pads like sheds and hot tubs. The written quote names the reinforcement.
How much does a concrete pad cost in Uxbridge?
Size sets the start, then the load the pad carries, its thickness and reinforcement, the base your ground needs, and how easily the concrete can reach the spot. On a rural Uxbridge lot the length of the run and the state of the base matter a lot. A flat rate posted online would only mislead you. You get a free written quote after a site visit, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.
