Concrete Patios in Uxbridge
My Concrete Pros pours concrete patios, gazebo slabs and pool decks across Uxbridge, from the village core to the estate lots on the concessions. Uxbridge sits on the Oak Ridges Moraine, glacial sand and gravel that drains fast, so a patio here heaves less than one on the lakeshore clay. The care goes into the edges and the grade, so the sand does not wash out from under the slab. Quotes are free and written, and the labour carries a lifetime warranty.

Uxbridge is up in north Durham, well off the lake, on the rolling hills of the Oak Ridges Moraine. The ground is glacial sand and gravel, and water moves down through it instead of sitting on top. That makes the moraine good ground for a patio, if the base and the edges are built right. See our Uxbridge page for everything else we do in the township.
Our patio method is the same everywhere: a compacted granular base, 32 MPa air-entrained concrete for the freeze-thaw winters, and a slope of about 2 percent away from the house. The full method and specs are on our concrete patios page. This page covers what Uxbridge ground and Uxbridge homes change about that job.
Moraine sand: lock the edges, set the grade
On the clay down by the lake, the fight is water that stays in the ground and heaves the slab. On the moraine, the sand drains, so a slab sees less frost heave. The weak point moves to the edges. Sand that drains well can still wash out from under an open edge when runoff runs along it, and on a sloped lot that happens faster.
So on an Uxbridge patio we read the lot for how the water moves before we pour. We pitch the slab so rain and meltwater leave the surface and go away from the house, and we contain and backfill the edges so the sandy shoulder stays where it is. Uxbridge still takes the full Ontario freeze-thaw swing every winter, so the mix and the base stay the same as anywhere else.
Big rural yards and estate lots
Many Uxbridge homes sit on estate, hobby-farm and rural lots out on the concession roads, and a lot of them have a back yard that never got a patio. Room to work makes the pour easier, but a long run from the road to the back of the house can mean the truck cannot reach the forms. We look at access on the site visit and put it in the written quote, so it is not a surprise on the day.
A wide patio off the back of the house often wants a pad for a gazebo or a hot tub, or a walkway to the door. Bring the plans to the visit, and we quote the patio and the pad as one job, with the base, edge thickness and anchors planned for that structure.
Older homes in the village core and the hamlets
Homes in the heritage streets of the village, and in hamlets such as Goodwood, Sandford and Leaskdale, are often decades old. There the patio is often a replacement: an old slab or steps that have settled, or a patio that now tips toward the wall. We take out what is past saving and pour the new patio sloped away from the foundation.
Wet basements are less common on the moraine than in the lakeshore towns, but they still happen where grading runs water toward the house. If the wall already lets water in, we tell you before we pour, and we can look at basement waterproofing in Uxbridge first.
Booking an Uxbridge patio
Uxbridge is in north Durham, well off our home routes in southwestern Ontario, so we group Uxbridge jobs into planned trips and give you real dates, not a same-week promise. Pour season runs April to November, and spring books up fast once the ground thaws. We reply to every request within one business day.
Straight answers
Does the sandy moraine ground in Uxbridge make a patio easier or harder?
Mostly easier. The glacial sand and gravel drain fast, so a patio heaves less in winter than one on lakeshore clay. The catch is that the same sand can wash out from under an open edge on a sloped lot. So we put the work into the grade and the edge containment.
We have a big rural lot. Can the concrete truck reach the back yard?
We check that on the site visit. If the truck cannot get near the forms, the crew moves the mix by pump or by wheelbarrow, and that labour goes in the written quote up front.
How much does a concrete patio cost in Uxbridge?
The finish you pick and how easily the truck reaches the back yard set most of the price. Size, the base the ground needs and any steps or levels set the rest. We do not post a flat number, because it would mislead you. You get a free written quote after a site visit, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.
Can you pour a pad for a gazebo or hot tub with the patio?
Yes. Bring the plan for the structure to the visit. We plan the base, reinforcement, edge thickness and anchors for it before the pour, and quote the patio and the pad together.
