Concrete Slabs & Garage Pads in Norwich
We pour garage slabs, shop floors, shed pads and equipment pads across Norwich Township, in Norwich village, Otterville, Burgessville, Springford and on the farms between them. A pad is only as good as the ground under it, and the township splits between heaving clay in the north and washout-prone sand in the south. Union-certified crews, a free written quote, and a lifetime warranty on labour.

On a farm or a rural lot, the slab is often the most-used surface on the property: the floor of the shop, the pad a piece of equipment parks on, the garage floor a truck drives over every day. Norwich Township splits at the soil line, and a pad is built for the side of that line it sits on. The north half is clay and clay-loam, which holds water and heaves under frost. The south half around Otterville runs to sand, which drains fast but washes out from under a slab edge where runoff concentrates.
The full build for every slab we pour, the 32 MPa air-entrained mix, the compacted Granular A base and the reinforcement by load, is on our concrete slabs and garage pads page. This page covers what Norwich Township changes. The site visit and the written quote are free.
Clay north of the village, sand toward Otterville
A detached garage or shop pad in Southern Ontario is usually a floating slab, with no deep foundation, so the whole pad rides any frost movement as one piece. On the clay side, that makes the base the most important part. We dig to stable ground, compact a granular base in lifts, and thicken the edges where walls will sit, so the slab stays flat instead of lifting and tilting.
On the sand side, the risk flips. Sand rarely heaves, but water running along an edge can carry the base out from under the slab until it bridges a hollow and cracks. On a sandy lot near Otterville, the work goes into containing the base and deciding where downspouts and runoff go before we set a form.
Shop floors and equipment pads
Farm slabs carry more than house slabs do. A shop floor sees trucks, jacks and stands, and an equipment pad sees machinery that parks and turns on the same spot. We spec thickness and steel for the load: a 10M rebar grid at a 400 mm spacing and a slab 125 to 150 mm thick for anything a vehicle drives on, and welded wire mesh for light pads such as sheds.
Open fields let frost go deeper than it does on a sheltered town lot, so a rural pad gets a base built for that exposure. We read the ground at the free site visit and put what it changes in the written quote.
Village lots: sheds, hot tubs and garage slabs
In Norwich village and Otterville, a shed pad, a hot tub pad or a slab for a detached garage is the kind of job we pour, including on infill lots at the edge of the village where there is fresh ground to prepare. A hot tub pad has to be level and reinforced for the load, because a filled tub with people in it is heavy.
A light resin shed does fine on a compacted gravel pad, and we will say so at the visit rather than sell concrete you do not need. If an old cracked pad is in the way, we take it out and look for what failed under it first; see our concrete removal and demolition page.
Scheduling a pour in the township
Norwich Township is on our south Oxford route with Tillsonburg, so a slab here books into scheduled visits through the pouring season. A new slab needs time to cure, and the crew gives you the guidance for your pour.
Straight answers
Will you pour a shop floor or equipment pad on a working farm near Norwich?
Yes. Farm pads are specced for the loads they will carry: thicker slabs, reinforcement where equipment parks or turns, and a base built for ground that freezes hard in the open. You get the same written quote and the same lifetime labour warranty as any house job in town.
Does the clay north of Norwich village change how you build a garage slab?
It makes the base matter more. Clay holds water under a slab, the water freezes, and a floating slab can lift or tilt. We dig to stable ground, compact a granular base in lifts, thicken the edges where the walls will sit, and grade the site to drain.
We are on sandy ground near Otterville. Is that better for a pad?
Better for frost, worse for washout. Sand drains well, so heave troubles it less, but runoff along an edge can carry the base out from under the slab. On sand we contain the base and control where downspouts and surface water go.
Do I need concrete for a shed near Norwich, or will gravel do?
A light resin shed does fine on a compacted gravel pad, and we will tell you so. Concrete is the right answer once the shed is a workshop, stores anything heavy, or needs anchoring against wind.
How much does a concrete garage slab cost in Norwich?
Size, thickness, the reinforcement the load needs, access to the site and the base the ground needs all move the number. A garage or shop floor costs more than a shed pad because it is thicker and carries more steel. We give you a written quote after a free site visit, and the number on the quote is the number on the invoice unless you change the job.
