Concrete Removal & Demolition in Fort Erie

We break out and haul away old driveways, patios, walkways, steps and slabs in Fort Erie. The town is a string of communities on two kinds of ground, sandy near the shore and shallow soil over clay inland, so what we find under the old concrete changes what goes back in. Quotes are free and written, with breakout, hauling, disposal and grading itemized.

Fort Erie is not one grid. Bridgeburg and the older central streets, Ridgeway, the shore at Crystal Beach and Bay Beach, and the rural lots out at Stevensville each have different homes and different ground. That changes how old concrete fails, and how we take it out. See our Fort Erie page for everything else we do in town.

The removal itself follows our usual method: utility locates before any machine digs, saw cuts where old concrete meets concrete that stays, mesh and rebar cut free, and the old concrete sent to a recycler. The full method is on our concrete removal and demolition page. This page covers what Fort Erie ground and Fort Erie homes change about that job.

Clay inland, sand at the shore: read the base once the slab is out

Near Crystal Beach and Bay Beach the ground is sandier and drains quickly. Inland, the soil is shallow over a clay subsoil, and clay holds water and heaves with frost. A slab that moved on clay often tells you why once it is broken out.

With the old concrete gone, we look at the base under it before anything new goes in. On most lots here the new base is dug to solid material and compacted in lifts. Where you want something new on the cleared ground, see concrete driveways in Fort Erie and concrete patios in Fort Erie.

Old steps and walks in Bridgeburg and the shore cottages

Bridgeburg has brick homes and foundations that go back to the railway era, and Crystal Beach and Ridgeway run from century cottages to newer builds. Old steps, walks and parging sit tight against those walls.

Where old concrete meets a wall or a step that stays, we saw-cut the line first so the breaker does not chew past it. Close to a foundation we use jackhammers instead of a machine breaker. If the steps are only settled and not broken, we will say so, and we can look at a rebuild instead of a full tear-out.

Booking removal in Fort Erie

Fort Erie is the far end of the Niagara peninsula for us, so a job here books into our regular Niagara schedule through the pouring season, not as a same-week call. Small jobs, like one walkway or an old shed pad, are welcome.

A small machine needs about a 36 inch gate. On narrow cottage lots where it cannot get through, the concrete is broken by hand and carried out, which takes longer. We decide the machine path at the site visit, and we reply to every request within one business day.

Questions

Straight answers

Can you remove old concrete steps next to an older Bridgeburg home?

Yes. We saw-cut the edge where old concrete meets concrete that stays, and use jackhammers close to the house. The aim is to take out the old work without damaging the brick beside it.

Can you take out concrete on a narrow Crystal Beach lot?

Yes. Our smallest machines clear about a 36 inch gate. If there is no machine access, we break the concrete by hand and carry it out. It takes longer, so we put it in the written quote after the site visit.

How much does concrete removal cost in Fort Erie?

The thickness of the slab, how much mesh and rebar is in it, and how a machine reaches it set most of the cost. A flat rate posted online would only mislead you. You get a free written quote after a site visit, with breakout, hauling, disposal and grading itemized, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.

What happens to the old concrete?

Clean concrete goes to a recycler and is crushed into road base. The mesh and rebar are cut free of the slab first.
