Concrete Patios in Mississauga
We pour concrete patios, gazebo slabs and pool decks across Mississauga. On the older lakeshore streets in Port Credit, Lakeview, Clarkson and Lorne Park, a patio is mostly about keeping water away from an older foundation on wet clay. In the newer surveys up north, it is usually a first patio on a bare builder's yard, so we check that the fill has settled before we pour. Quotes are free and written, and the labour carries a lifetime warranty.

Mississauga sits on clay. Along the lakeshore, below the old Lake Iroquois shoreline, it is clay and silt laid down in glacial lake water, with a water table that runs high near the Credit River and Lake Ontario. Inland and to the north it is the clay till of the Peel plain. Clay holds water, and water held against a wall or under a slab is what turns a new patio into a problem. See our Mississauga page for everything else we do in the city.
So we treat a patio as a drainage job that is also a nice place to sit. We slope the slab about 2 percent away from the house, pour 32 MPa air-entrained concrete for freeze-thaw winters, and set it on a compacted granular base. The full method is on our concrete patios page. This page covers what Mississauga ground and Mississauga homes change about that job.
Lakeshore lots: slope the patio off the wall
In Port Credit, Lakeview, Clarkson and Lorne Park, the clay drains slowly and the ground near the Credit and the lake stays wet long after the spring melt. Many homes here are on postwar lots, and their foundations were rarely sealed to a modern standard. A patio that is flat, or that has sunk toward the house, sends every rain and every melt to that wall.
Before we pour beside an older home, we look at where the downspouts empty, how the yard drains, and whether an old slab or old steps have settled. We set the slope away from the house and plan the joints around the shape of the patio. If the wall already lets water in, we tell you, and we can look at basement waterproofing in Mississauga before a patio goes in on top of the problem.
Newer surveys: let the fill settle first
In Erin Mills, Meadowvale, Churchill Meadows and Lisgar, the access is open, but the fill around the house is younger and keeps settling for a season or two. A patio poured on ground that is still moving can sink at the house edge and tip the wrong way, toward the wall.
So on a newer lot we check the compaction before we pour. Ask for the quote in spring, so the site visit can see the yard after the melt and the pour can book onto a summer date.
Old Streetsville, gazebos and planning the job
On the old village streets in Streetsville, a backyard often has mature trees, tight lot lines and narrow side yards, so the site visit decides how the concrete gets to the back and where the crew works. Tight access changes the job, so we put it in the written quote.
A pad that carries a gazebo is not ordinary patio space. Bring the gazebo plan to the site visit, and we plan the base, reinforcement, edge thickness and anchors for that structure, and quote the patio and the gazebo slab as one job. Mississauga sits east of our home routes, so patios here book onto planned trips into the GTA with real dates, not a same-week promise. We reply to every request within one business day.
Straight answers
Will a new patio make my basement near Port Credit wetter?
Not if it is built right. The lakeshore sits on clay with a high water table, so any slab that slopes toward the house sends water to the wall. We slope every patio about 2 percent away from the house and check where your downspouts empty. If your wall already leaks, we tell you before we pour.
We just moved into Churchill Meadows. When can we pour a patio?
Usually after the lot has settled. New subdivision fill keeps compacting for a season or two, and a patio poured too early can sink and tip toward the wall. We check the compaction on the site visit and tell you if the yard is ready. A quote in spring usually gets you a better summer date.
How much does a concrete patio cost in Mississauga?
Size sets the start, then the finish you pick, the base your ground needs, any steps or levels, and how easily the concrete can reach the backyard. A flat rate posted online would only mislead you. You get a free written quote after a site visit, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.
Can you pour a pad for a gazebo in Mississauga?
Yes. Bring the gazebo plan to the visit. We plan the base, reinforcement, edge thickness and anchors for that structure before the pour, and quote the patio and the pad together.
