Concrete Patios in Georgina
We pour concrete patios, gazebo slabs and pool decks across Georgina. In the new Keswick subdivisions the job is usually a first patio on a lot that is still settling. Near Lake Simcoe in Sutton, Jackson's Point and Pefferlaw, the ground is low and sandy with a high water table, so the base has to be contained and the slab has to send water away from an older foundation. Georgina is past our home routes, so we book it into planned trips with firm dates. The quote is free and in writing, and the labour carries a lifetime warranty.

Georgina has two kinds of backyard, and a patio depends on which one you have. Keswick holds more than half the town and nearly all the new building, so many yards there are still the bare lot the builder left. Sutton, Jackson's Point and Pefferlaw are older and closer to the water, and many homes there began as summer cottages that became year-round homes. See our Georgina page for everything else we do in town.
A patio is a drainage job that is also a nice place to sit. We slope the slab about 2 percent away from the house, use 32 MPa air-entrained concrete for the freeze-thaw winters, and put it on a compacted granular base. The full method is on our concrete patios page. This page covers what Georgina ground and Georgina homes change about that job.
New Keswick lots: let the ground settle first
Ground on a new survey keeps moving for a season or two after the house goes up. A patio poured too early can sink at the house edge and tip toward the wall.
So for a new Keswick lot we usually tell you to wait through the first spring, so you can see how water drains across the yard. Then we check the compaction before we pour. Ask for the quote in spring, because summer dates fill fast at the growth end of town.
Sandy lakeshore ground: contain the base
The south shore of Lake Simcoe is low and sandy, and the water table sits close to the surface. Sand drains fast, but where the water sits high it keeps the ground wet from below and can wash the base out from under a slab if that base was never contained.
So near the lake we contain and compact the granular base for the ground your yard actually sits on, and we grade the water away from the concrete. Every job starts with a site visit, because two lots on the same street can need different bases.
Older cottage foundations: keep the water off the wall
Many lakeshore homes stand on shallow foundations built for summer use, and a high water table already pushes on those walls every melt. A patio that is flat, or that settles toward the house, adds every rain to that load.
Before we pour against an older home, we look at where the downspouts empty and how the yard drains, and we set the slope away from the house. If the wall already lets water in, we tell you, and we can look at basement waterproofing in Georgina before the patio goes in on top of the problem.
Straight answers
We just moved into a new home in Keswick. When can we pour a patio?
Usually after the first spring. New-survey ground keeps moving for a season or two, and a patio poured too early can sink and tip toward the wall. We check the compaction on the site visit and tell you if the lot is ready.
Does a patio near Lake Simcoe need a different base?
It does. The ground near the lake is sandy with a high water table, so the worry is the granular base washing out from under the slab. We contain and compact the base for your lot and grade the water away from the concrete.
Will a new patio make my Jackson's Point basement wetter?
Not if it is built right. We slope every patio about 2 percent away from the house and check where your downspouts empty. If the old cottage wall already leaks, we tell you before we pour.
How much does a concrete patio cost in Georgina?
Size, the finish you pick, access to the backyard and the base your ground needs set the number. We do not post a flat rate, because it would mislead you. You get a free written quote after a site visit, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.
Do you really come up to Georgina for a patio?
We do, on planned trips. Georgina is a long haul from our home routes, so we group jobs in the area and come up with firm dates. Send the form with your town, and we reply within one business day.
