Georgina splits in two for driveway work. Keswick is the largest community and where the new subdivisions are still filling in. Sutton, Jackson's Point and Pefferlaw are older and closer to the lake, with many converted cottages, so a driveway there often sits on wetter, sandier ground.
The full spec, with the mix, the base and the joints, is on our concrete driveways page. This page is about what a Georgina driveway needs in particular.
New lots in Keswick
New-survey ground keeps moving for a season or two after the builder leaves. We suggest pouring after the first spring, once the lot has settled and you can see how water drains across it, and we check compaction before we pour.
Keswick keeps us busy through summer, so booking the quote in spring lines you up for a better slot.
Sandy, wet ground near the lake
The south shore of Lake Simcoe is low and sandy, with marshy stretches and a high water table. Wet sand under a slab can wash an uncontained base out from under it. So we contain and compact a Granular A base, and pour 32 MPa air-entrained concrete that holds up to freeze-thaw and salt.
Where a truck or trailer parks, we pour 125 mm instead of 100 mm, with reinforcement where the load needs it. Keep vehicles off the new slab for at least 48 hours.
Replace or resurface?
On an older lakeshore lot, the driveway may not need to come out. Resurfacing can beat replacement when the slab is sound and only the surface is tired. We tell you which after a free site visit.
Straight answers
We just moved into a new Keswick subdivision. When should we pour the driveway?
Usually after the first spring. New-survey ground keeps moving for a season or two, so we wait for the lot to settle and check compaction before we pour a slab that has to stay flat.
Do you come up to Georgina?
Yes. Georgina is at the far north edge of the GTA, past our home routes, so we group its jobs into planned trips and give you firm dates instead of a same-week promise.
How much does a concrete driveway cost in Georgina?
Size sets the starting point, then the finish, the base your ground needs, access, and whether an old slab has to come out. We do not post a flat rate that would only mislead you. A free written quote comes after the site visit, and the number on it is the number you pay unless you change the job.
