Concrete Removal & Demolition in King Township

We break out and haul away old driveways, patios, walkways, steps and slabs across King Township, from long estate approach drives to barn and equipment pads and village pours in King City, Nobleton and Schomberg. Most of King sits on the sand and gravel of the Oak Ridges Moraine, so removal is the moment to check and rebuild the base before anything new goes in. King is a long drive from our home routes, so we book it into planned trips with real dates. Quotes are free and written, with breakout, hauling, disposal and grading itemized.

King Township is the most rural township in the GTA, and its concrete is not suburban concrete. Think of a two-hundred-foot approach drive to an estate house, a barn or equipment pad, or a farmhouse step that has stood through fifty winters. See our King Township page for everything else we do here.

The removal itself follows our usual method: utility locates before any machine digs, saw cuts where old concrete meets concrete that stays, mesh and rebar cut free, and the old concrete sent to a recycler, not a landfill. The full method is on our concrete removal and demolition page. This page covers what King ground and King properties change about that job.

Moraine sand: what we check once the slab is out

Most of King sits on the Oak Ridges Moraine, a long ridge of glacial sand and gravel that drains fast. On clay, an old slab usually fails because water sits under it and frost lifts it. On moraine sand it is the other way round: the sand moves. An old slab that has cracked or tipped may have lost the sand under its edge to wash-out or settling.

So with the old concrete gone, we look at the base under it and at where the water ran. If the sand has washed out or settled, we rebuild it, contained and compacted, before a new slab goes in. Putting a new slab on the same loose base would let it move the same way.

Long drives, barn pads and rural access

A long approach drive breaks out in a different way than a short village driveway. There is more length to cut, more concrete to haul and more distance for a truck to reach. Barn floors, wash bays and equipment pads carry heavy loads, so they are often thick and reinforced, which means more breaking time and more tonnage. We plan the machine route and the hauling at the site visit, and put it in the written quote.

Most removal is day one of something new. Doing the tear-out and the new pour with one crew means the base is rebuilt while the ground is open. See concrete driveways and concrete patios in King for what goes back in.

Older farmhouses and village homes

Many King farmhouses and century homes have foundations that were not sealed to today's standard. When old steps, a walkway or a patio slab sits against one of those walls, we check where the downspouts empty and whether the ground runs toward the house. If the wall is letting water in, we tell you, and we can look at basement waterproofing in King while the ground beside it is open.

In King City, Nobleton and Schomberg the jobs run smaller: a walkway, a set of steps, an old garage pad. Small jobs are welcome.

Booking removal in King Township

King sits well north of our home routes and is a real drive, so we book township jobs into planned trips with dates set in advance, never a same-week or same-day promise. Allow about a week for utility marking before the machine day. We reply to every request within one business day.

Questions

Straight answers

Why did my King driveway or slab crack and tip, and will a new one do the same?

King's moraine sand drains fast but it moves. If the edges of a slab were not held and the base was not packed, the sand can wash out or settle and the slab cracks or tips. When we take the old slab out, we check the base and the drainage, and rebuild what moved before the new pour.

Can you remove a long driveway or a barn pad?

Yes. Long drives and thick, reinforced barn or equipment pads mean more breaking time and more concrete to haul. We plan the machine route and the hauling at the site visit and itemize it in the written quote.

How much does concrete removal cost in King?

The thickness of the slab, how much mesh and rebar is in it, and how a machine reaches it set most of the cost, and on a King property the length of the drive matters too. A flat rate posted online would only mislead you. You get a free written quote after a site visit, with breakout, hauling, disposal and grading itemized, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.

What happens to the old concrete?

Clean concrete goes to a recycler and is crushed into road base. The mesh and rebar are cut free and recycled on their own.
