Clay flats: find out why the old slab moved
Away from the river, the ground in Cayuga is South Cayuga clay flats. The fields are level, they pond in March and they dry late. Water that sits under a slab freezes and lifts it, and highway salt through the middle of town all winter adds to the wear on exposed concrete.
