Concrete Patios in Cayuga
We pour concrete patios in Cayuga, from the older courthouse-town backyards to the newer streets at the edge of town. Cayuga sits on South Cayuga clay that ponds in March and dries late, and low ground near the Grand gets spring water. So we build each patio on a compacted granular base and slope it about 2 percent away from the house. Union-certified crews, a free written quote, and a lifetime warranty on labour.

In Cayuga, a patio is mostly a water job. Away from the river the ground is the South Cayuga clay flats: level ground that ponds in March and dries late. Near the river, the lower Grand floods low ground when the spring ice jams. A patio sits right beside the house, so where its water goes matters to your basement as much as to the slab.
The full method, the 32 MPa air-entrained mix, the 100 mm slab, the compacted Granular A base and the finishes, is on our concrete patios page. This page is about what Cayuga's ground and homes change. The site visit and the written quote are free, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.
Clay that holds water: base and slope first
Tight clay does not let water drain down. Water that stays under a slab freezes and lifts it, and a patio that settles toward the house sends every rainfall and spring melt at the foundation. On the clay flats, the base decides whether the patio stays where we poured it.
We dig to stable ground, build the granular base in compacted lifts, and set the slope at about 2 percent away from the house. We also check where your downspouts empty, so roof water does not run onto the patio or pool beside it.
Low ground near the Grand
Streets near the river carry spring water: seasonal damp, white mineral bloom on block walls, parging that lets go in patches after a wet winter. If your lot is on that low ground, a patio is a chance to fix the grade beside the house, not to add one more flat surface that holds water against it.
We look at the lot before we quote, and we say so if the basement wall beside the patio needs parging or crack sealing first. It is easier to do that before a slab goes in next to it. Our basement waterproofing work in Cayuga covers the wall side.
Older backyards and newer streets
The courthouse-town blocks hold the oldest homes and the oldest backyard concrete. There, a new patio often starts with taking out an old cracked slab and finding what failed under it. If the old patio went in flat or sloped toward the house, the new one fixes that.
The newer streets at the edges of town bring first pours: a backyard patio, a pad for a gazebo. A gazebo needs the slab planned for it, so bring the footprint and the anchor plan to the site visit and we quote it as one job.
Finish, cure and booking in Cayuga
Broom finish gives grip and is the most affordable. Exposed aggregate adds texture. Stamped concrete adds pattern and colour; see our stamped and decorative concrete page. You can walk on a new patio in 24 to 48 hours, set furniture on it after about a week, and seal it at about 28 days.
Cayuga sits in the middle of our Haldimand routes, between our Caledonia and Dunnville days, so a patio here books onto a scheduled route day like a job in a larger town. Fill out the form and we reply within one business day.
Straight answers
What does Cayuga's clay mean for a concrete patio?
It means the base and the slope matter more than the concrete. Clay holds water, and water under a slab freezes and lifts it. We dig to stable ground, compact a granular base in lifts, and slope the patio about 2 percent away from the house. The concrete is a 32 MPa air-entrained mix made for freeze-thaw winters.
Our house is near the river and the basement gets damp in spring. Should we still put in a patio?
Yes, if it is built to move water away. A patio sloped toward the house makes a damp basement worse; one sloped away and with the downspouts sorted can help. We look at the grade and the wall beside the patio before we quote, and we say plainly if the wall needs work first.
Is Cayuga too small for you to take a patio job?
No. Cayuga sits mid-route between our Caledonia and Dunnville days, so a patio here costs us no special trip. It gets a free written quote, a scheduled date and the lifetime warranty on labour, the same as a job in a bigger town.
How much does a concrete patio cost in Cayuga?
Size, the finish you choose, access to the backyard and the state of the ground, including the base the clay needs, all move the number. Broom finish is the most affordable, exposed aggregate is a step up, and stamped work, borders and multiple levels cost more. We give you a written quote after a free site visit, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.
