Binbrook sits on a flat clay plain, tight ground that drains slowly. When an old slab comes out here, the job is not finished when the concrete is gone. What matters is the clay underneath and whether the next slab gets a base that can shed water. See our Binbrook page for everything else we do in town.

The removal itself follows our usual method: utility locates before any machine digs, saw cuts where old concrete meets concrete that stays, mesh and rebar cut free, and the old concrete sent to a recycler. The full method is on our concrete removal and demolition page. This page covers what Binbrook ground and Binbrook homes change about that job.

New subdivisions: tear-out and new pour together

Much of Binbrook grew out from the old village core as new surveys on former farm fields. When an old slab beside a newer home comes out ahead of a driveway, patio or garage pad, doing the tear-out and the new pour with one crew means the base is rebuilt while the ground is open, and you pay for one mobilization, not two.

Because that soil was disturbed when the lots were built, the backfill along a foundation can keep settling for a season or two. If a slab beside the house has tipped or cracked, we look at what the ground did before we promise a replacement. Our Binbrook page lists the flatwork we pour on the same clay.

Clay under the slab: rebuilding the base after the tear-out

Binbrook's clay holds water exactly where it can do damage. Water trapped under a slab freezes, expands and lifts it. So after the old concrete is out, we dig below frost reach where the new slab needs it, compact in lifts and grade the lot so it sheds water instead of pooling it. That is decided on site, lot by lot, and itemized on the quote.

Old slabs that sat low and held water tell us something, and we read that before the new base goes in.

The village core and the farms: worn slabs and shop floors

Around the original village near the fairgrounds, the older concrete is where repair, parging and the odd replacement come up. On the acreages around town, the job can be an old shop floor or an equipment pad coming out so a new one can go in. Heavy, thick or reinforced concrete means more breaking time and more tonnage to haul, and we scope that in writing before we start.

Small jobs, like one walkway or an old shed pad, are welcome. Binbrook sits where our Haldimand and Hamilton routes meet, so removal and pours here book into the regular weekly schedule through the season.

Questions

Straight answers

Can you take out an old slab and pour the new one on the same visit schedule?

Yes. Doing the tear-out and the new pour with one crew means the base is rebuilt while the ground is open, and you pay for one mobilization, not two. We scope both in the same free written quote.

Does the clay in Binbrook change how you rebuild the base?

Yes. The plain drains slowly, so water sits in the ground through the freeze-thaw season and can lift a slab. After removal we dig below frost reach where needed, compact in lifts and grade the lot to shed water. That is decided on site.

How much does concrete removal cost in Binbrook?

The thickness of the slab, how much mesh and rebar is in it, and how a machine reaches it set most of the cost. A flat rate posted online would only mislead you. You get a free written quote after a site visit, with breakout, hauling, disposal and grading itemized, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.

Can you remove an old shop floor or equipment pad on a Binbrook acreage?

Yes. Plenty of Binbrook is still working farmland, and thick or reinforced pads take more breaking time and more hauling. We scope it in writing, send the clean concrete to a recycler and can pour the replacement on the same job.
