Concrete Patios in Oshawa
My Concrete Pros pours new concrete patios and replaces old ones across Oshawa. In the north-end surveys around Windfields and Kedron, we wait until the lot has settled, then check compaction before we pour. Behind older homes near the lake and around the campuses, the job is often a tired patio to replace, and we check the base and the drainage first. Quotes are free and written, and the labour carries a lifetime warranty.

Oshawa patio work comes in three kinds, and the kind depends on where your yard is. The north end is new: subdivisions are still filling in around Windfields, Kedron, Samac and the Taunton corridor. The south end is old: downtown, the harbour and lakeshore streets like Lakeview, on the Lake Iroquois shoreline plain where the water table sits high. Between and around them, older blocks and rentals near Ontario Tech and Durham College have flatwork that is past its best. See our Oshawa page for everything else we do in town.
Whatever the yard, the patio itself follows one method: a compacted granular base, a slope of about 2 percent away from the house, and an air-entrained exterior mix. The full method is on our concrete patios page. Below is what changes from one part of Oshawa to the next.
Which Oshawa patio job is yours?
A new home in Windfields, Kedron, Samac or along Taunton: this is a first patio. North Oshawa sits on clay-loam till that keeps shifting for a season or two after a build, so we usually ask you to wait until after the first spring and see how water runs across the lot. Then we check compaction before we pour.
An older home in Lakeview, downtown, McLaughlin, Vanier or O'Neill: the walls here were built before they were sealed to a modern standard, and the water table is high near the lake. The first question is where the water goes. We look at the downspouts and the yard grade before we talk about the patio.
A rental or older home near Ontario Tech or Durham College: the job is often a tired slab to replace.
Replacing an old patio: check the base first
If an old patio has dropped toward the house, that is a base failure. New concrete poured on the same base only buys a few more years of the same problem. We take out the old slab, rebuild the base to real depth, and slope the new patio away from the wall.
If the wall beside it already lets water in, we tell you, and we can look at basement waterproofing in Oshawa before the new patio goes in.
Booking an Oshawa patio
Oshawa is at the far east end of the GTA, a long way from our southwest Ontario routes. We book Oshawa patios into planned trips east along the lakeshore and give you a real date, not a same-week promise. Summer dates up north fill fast, so ask for the quote in spring. We reply to every request within one business day.
Small jobs ride along on the same trip. If your back steps have sunk or a walkway panel has cracked, tell us when you ask for the patio quote.
Straight answers
We just moved into a new home in Kedron. When can we pour a patio?
Usually after the first spring. North Oshawa sits on clay-loam till that keeps shifting for a season or two after a build. We check the compaction on the site visit and tell you if the lot is ready.
Our old patio in south Oshawa slopes toward the house. Can you pour over it?
Usually not. A patio that has dropped toward the house has a failed base, and new concrete on that base fails the same way. We replace the slab on a rebuilt base and slope it about 2 percent away from the house, so water from rain and spring melt moves away from the wall.
How much does a concrete patio cost in Oshawa?
The finish you pick and how easily we can reach the backyard move the price most. Size, the state of the ground and extra levels set the rest. We do not post a flat number. You get a free written quote after a site visit, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.
Is the patio covered by a warranty?
Yes. The labour carries a lifetime warranty for as long as you own the home. It covers the site preparation, the base, the pour and the finishing. The full terms are on every written quote.
