Dundas is the Valley Town. The Niagara Escarpment wraps it on three sides, so rain and snowmelt run down the slopes and collect on the valley floor, and the soil holds that water rather than shedding it. Wet ground under a slab is what freezes, heaves and cracks a driveway.

Valley ground: drainage before concrete
We excavate to stable ground, build 150 to 200 mm of Granular A in compacted lifts, and grade the slab so melt runs off it and away from the house.
Every driveway gets 32 MPa air-entrained concrete. The tiny air voids give freezing water room, so the surface holds up to freeze-thaw and road salt.
Beside a century home
Much of Dundas is established housing: century brick and cut stone in the downtown core around King and Sydenham and on the streets that climb toward the escarpment. Lots there are often tight. Replacing an old driveway starts with tear-out: we break out the old slab, haul it away, fix whatever lifted or cracked it, and pour fresh, in proportion with the house.
Where newer infill and larger lots near the valley edge allow it, the work opens up to full driveways and garage pads. Where trucks or trailers park, we pour 125 mm instead of 100 mm.

Why do driveways crack and heave in Dundas?
Mostly water. The escarpment sends runoff onto the valley floor, the ground stays wet, and water under a slab on a thin base freezes and pushes. We dig to stable ground, compact a Granular A base in lifts and grade the slab to drain.
Can you replace an old driveway beside a heritage home in Dundas?
Yes. We remove and haul away the old slab, fix the base problem under it, and pour a new driveway sized to sit right beside an older house. Tear-out and disposal go in the written quote.
How much does a concrete driveway cost in Dundas?
Size sets the floor, then the finish, the base the ground needs, access on the lot, and whether an old slab has to come out. We do not post a flat rate because it would mislead.
