Foundation cracks in Cambridge are not one problem. Galt, Preston and Hespeler grew up as separate towns, and the houses show it. Stone and century brick stand on century foundations near the Grand and Speed rivers, while newer subdivisions fill the edges of all three.

So the first job is to read the wall you have. A vertical crack that leaks in a poured wall is a small, common repair. A horizontal crack or a stair-step crack in block means the soil outside is pushing.

The full method, epoxy and polyurethane injection and carbon fibre, is on our foundation repair page. This page is about how those repairs fit Cambridge's walls and ground. Send the form for a free written quote. We reply within one business day.

Poured and block walls near the rivers and on the sand

The river-valley cores carry a higher water table and a flood history, so foundations down near the water take on more damp than houses on higher ground. Wet ground presses on a wall from outside. In a block wall that pressure can show as a stair-step crack along the mortar joints, or as a wall that starts to bow inward.

Away from the rivers the ground runs to moraine sand and gravel, which drains well. We also check the grading and the downspouts, because a crack fix that leaves the water in place will not last.

Hairline or structural: what our Cambridge quote tells you

We measure four things: width, direction, movement and offset. A crack under 1/8 in. is usually shrinkage. A crack wider than 1/4 in., one that grows each year, a horizontal crack, or one where one face sits higher than the other needs structural attention.

For a block wall that bows less than about 2 in., carbon fibre straps epoxied to the wall stop further movement. They do not pull the wall straight, and we will not say they do. The written quote names the crack, its cause, the fix and the strap count, so you can compare it with any other quote.

Questions

Straight answers

Who fixes foundation cracks and leaks in a Cambridge home?

We do, across Cambridge. Our union-certified crews inject leaking cracks with polyurethane, bond dry cracks with epoxy, and reinforce bowing block walls with carbon fibre. The quote is free and in writing, and the labour carries a lifetime warranty for as long as you own the home.

There is a horizontal crack in my block basement wall. Is it serious?

Treat it as serious. A horizontal crack in a block wall usually means wet ground is pushing on the wall from outside. We measure the crack and any bow, check the drainage, and write down what we find. A moderate bow can take carbon fibre straps, and the water outside must be dealt with too.

How much does foundation repair cost in Cambridge?

We do not publish a price, because the jobs are so different. The cost climbs with the number of cracks, whether the fix is a simple seal or structural reinforcement, and whether water management is needed too. The free written quote gives you the real number.

Water is coming through a crack right now. What should I do?

From October to March, send the form and check the box that says water is coming in. Urgent water problems are seen first. Downspouts that dump beside the wall feed the pressure, so we check them on the visit. We reply to every request within one business day.
