Concrete Repair and Resurfacing in Guelph, Ontario
We repair cracked, sunken and worn concrete on Guelph homes: crack injection, slab lifting, resurfacing, step rebuilds and sealing. Most of it is on the older streets near the Speed and Eramosa rivers, where steps, walks and slabs have been through a great many Wellington winters. We find the cause before we quote the fix, and we say so plainly when replacement is the better spend. The quote is free and written, you get a reply within one business day, and the labour carries our lifetime warranty.

Guelph splits in two for concrete. The south-end surveys are mostly new, and they order patios, driveways and pads. The old Royal City core and the postwar streets around it call about settled stone steps, heaved walks, spalled treads and cracked slabs that have taken decades of freeze-thaw and road salt.
Most of that concrete does not need to come out. A crack can be injected, a sunken slab lifted back to grade, a worn surface ground and resurfaced, and a broken step formed and re-poured. The full method for each is on our concrete repair and resurfacing page. This page covers what Guelph's ground and older houses change about the job.
Why concrete cracks and sinks on Guelph's clay and near its rivers
Guelph sits on drumlin clay-loam, and that ground holds water and heaves a slab when frost gets under a thin or poorly compacted base. A walk or pad that lifts every winter and settles every spring opens cracks as it moves, and a void can wash out beneath it.
The low streets near the Speed and Eramosa carry a higher water table than the higher ground, so slabs and steps there stay damp longer in spring. A Guelph repair starts underneath: we check the base, the grade and where the downspouts send their water before we quote. A crack filled over a slab that is still moving opens again by spring.
Steps, walks and stone-era houses in the old core
Older Guelph houses are built of limestone and century brick, and their front steps and walks were often poured generations ago. Salt and freeze-thaw work on them from the top down. Spalled treads and broken edges are formed and re-poured with air-entrained 32 MPa mix, and a worn but sound surface can be ground back and given a bonded overlay instead of a tear-out.
A bright new patch argues with grey limestone, so we keep the lines and scale of the original work and colour-match as close as cured concrete allows. The aim is a repair that is sound, even and safe underfoot, and looks like part of the house.
When a crack is a foundation or water question
A crack in a walk or a garage slab is a repair job. A crack in a basement wall that leaks every spring, or one that keeps growing, is a different question, and limestone and older masonry walls need a different approach from a poured slab.

Straight answers
Should I repair or replace the cracked concrete at my Guelph home?
It depends on the base. Repair wins when the damage is local and the base under it is still sound: one or two cracks, a slab that settled on one side, surface pitting or a broken step edge. Replacement wins when the slab has cracked all over, the base has failed across the whole area, or the surface has scaled so deep there is nothing sound to bond to. The written quote says which side of that line your concrete is on, and why.
Can you lift a sunken walk or slab in Guelph instead of replacing it?
Often, yes. We pump material through small holes drilled in the slab to fill the void under it and float it back to grade. Mudjacking uses a sand-and-cement slurry and wants 24 to 48 hours before traffic; polyurethane foam takes traffic the same day. Before we lift, we find out why the base washed out, so the slab does not sink again.
How much does concrete repair cost in Guelph?
There is no honest flat rate. The cost moves with the size of the area, how far the damage goes, the condition of the base, the repair method, access and the season. The visit and the written quote are free, and the number on the quote is the number on the invoice unless you change the job.
When should I book a concrete repair in Guelph?
Book whenever you see the damage: the visit and the written quote are free. If water is actively coming into your basement between October and March, you can flag it as urgent in the form.
