Concrete Patios in Elmira
We pour concrete patios across Elmira, from older backyards near the town centre to the newer lots in South Parkwood and West Elmira, and on farms and acreages around Woolwich. Elmira lots run a mix of loam and clay, so we check your ground first, build a compacted granular base to suit it, and slope the patio about 2 percent away from the house. Union-certified crews, a free written quote, and a lifetime warranty on labour.

Elmira sits off the sandy moraine that Waterloo and Kitchener are built on. The ground here is closer to the farm country around it: loam that drains fairly well in places, over till and clay in others. Two backyards on the same street can sit on different ground, and that decides how a patio has to be built.
The full method, the 32 MPa air-entrained mix, the 100 mm slab, the compacted base and the control joints, is on our concrete patios page. This page is about what Elmira's ground and homes change. The site visit and the written quote are free, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.
Clay on one lot, loam on the next
Where an Elmira lot runs to clay, the ground holds water. When frost reaches water under a slab on a thin base, it lifts the slab, and a patio against the house can tip back toward the foundation. On clay, we build a deep compacted base and set the slope so melt runs off the patio and away from the wall.
Where the lot runs sandier, water drains fast, but it can wash out the ground under a slab edge. There, we contain the base at the edges and plan with you where the downspouts and the patio's runoff go before the forms go in. We check which ground you have at the site visit, not after the pour.
Older town backyards and newer surveys
Near the town centre and the Canagagigue Creek, many homes have stood through a lot of Ontario winters. A new patio there often starts with taking out an old cracked or sunken slab and finding what failed under it. If the old patio went in flat or sloped toward the house, the new one fixes that.
In South Parkwood and West Elmira, the lots have finished settling, and the patio is often a job the builder skipped. A patio poured the same day as a walkway to the door shares the truck and the base crew; see our walkways and steps page.
Finish, cure and booking
Broom finish gives grip and is the most affordable. Exposed aggregate adds texture. Stamped concrete adds pattern and colour; see our stamped and decorative concrete page. Whatever the finish, the slab is 32 MPa air-entrained concrete, the mix made for freeze-thaw winters.
You can walk on a new patio after 24 to 48 hours, set furniture on it after about a week, and seal it at about 28 days. Elmira is a rural drive north of the region for us, so we book Woolwich jobs onto set days and pair a town job with other work nearby.
Straight answers
My Elmira backyard is clay. Will a concrete patio heave?
Clay heaves when water sits under a slab and freezes. We build a deep compacted base and slope the patio about 2 percent away from the house. We check your lot before we quote, because Elmira ground changes from one lot to the next.
Can you replace an old cracked patio behind an older house near the centre of Elmira?
Yes. We take out the old slab, find what made it crack or sink, and fix that before we pour. The new patio goes on a compacted granular base and slopes away from the house.
Can you pour a patio on our farm or acreage outside Elmira?
Yes. We book Woolwich jobs onto set days. If you also need a shop floor or an equipment pad, we can quote it in the same visit.
How much does a concrete patio cost in Elmira?
Size, the finish you choose, access to the backyard, and the state of your ground all move the number. Broom finish is the most affordable, exposed aggregate is a step up, and stamped work costs more. We give you a written quote after a free site visit, and the number on the quote is the number you pay unless you change the job.
