Stamped & Decorative Concrete in St. George
We pour stamped and decorative concrete in St. George: patios, walkways and driveway borders in slate, flagstone, cobblestone and wood-plank patterns. The village sits on clay that holds water and lifts concrete in a hard freeze, so the base under the pattern decides how long it stays crisp. Union-certified crews do the colour and stamping, the labour carries a lifetime warranty, and the written quote is free.

Stamped concrete in St. George usually starts in one of two places. On the newer lots in St. George Village and StoneyRidge, the builder poured the driveway and left a bare backyard, and owners want a patio that reads as stone. In the older blocks off Main Street and on the farm properties, a stamped walk or porch landing has to sit next to a century-old house.
The ground changes the job. St. George sits up on the clay plain, and the clay loam drains slowly, so snowmelt and spring rain soak the ground for weeks. When frost drives deep, the wet clay grips a slab and lifts it. A pattern pressed into a slab on a thin base can crack when the ground heaves, and the crack runs through the design.
The method, pattern families, colour system and joint layout are on our stamped and decorative concrete page. This page covers what stamping a St. George yard asks of the crew: a compacted base, a surface that sheds water, a pattern chosen for the house, and a written resealing plan. The quote is free and written.
Clay that holds water: the base under the pattern
On clay, a slab fails from below. Water that cannot drain sits under it, freezes and pushes it up unevenly. We build stamped work on a compacted granular base, so the slab sits on stone that drains instead of on wet clay.
The slab is the same standard as any flatwork we pour, with a 32 MPa air-entrained mix for freeze-thaw. Control joints are saw-cut along the pattern's grout lines, so shrinkage cracks follow lines that were meant to be there.
Sloping, sealing and the resealing plan
We slope the surface about 2 percent away from the house, roughly a quarter inch per foot, and plan with you where the downspouts go so their water does not end up under the slab.
We seal the finished surface with an acrylic sealer and an anti-slip additive. Colour lasts with a resealing schedule of every 2 to 3 years, and we put that schedule in writing before you sign.
Choosing a pattern for new lots and older homes
On the newer streets the house is a blank slate, so the choice of pattern is wide. A stamped patio, or a stamped border around a broom-finish field, adds less to the quote than stamping the whole area. If you want the look without the upkeep, we will also talk you through exposed aggregate.
Beside the century homes off Main Street, quieter patterns sit best: ashlar slate or random flagstone, with a colour taken from the brick, stone or trim. We bring manufacturer colour charts to the site visit and match them to your house.
Booking in the village
Pour the stamped patio in the same visit as a driveway widening or a garage pad and you share the cost of getting the crew and equipment to the site. You get one written quote for all of it. St. George is on our weekly Brant County route with Brantford and Paris.
Straight answers
Does St. George's clay change a stamped patio?
It changes the base. The clay holds water and lifts a slab in a hard freeze, so we build on a compacted granular base and slope the surface away from the house. Control joints follow the pattern's grout lines.
What stamped pattern suits an older home off Main Street?
Quieter ones. Ashlar slate or random flagstone in a colour taken from the brick, stone or trim usually sits better than a bright, busy surface. We bring colour charts to the site visit.
Does stamped concrete need upkeep?
Yes. Colour holds with a resealing schedule of every 2 to 3 years, and we put that schedule in writing before you sign.
How much does stamped concrete cost in St. George?
Stamped work is an upgrade over a standard broom slab. The pattern, the number of colours, the hand detailing, the size of the area and what the clay needs first all move the number. A free site visit gets you a written quote that lists the slab, colour, stamping and sealing separately.
