Stamped & Decorative Concrete in Port Perry
We pour stamped and decorative concrete across Port Perry and the Township of Scugog: patios, front walks, steps and driveway borders. Near Lake Scugog the ground is low and often soft, and a crack cuts across a stamped pattern where a plain broom finish would hide it, so the base under the pattern is the first job. Union-certified crews handle the colour and stamping, the labour carries a lifetime warranty, and the written quote is free.

Port Perry is the main town of Scugog, on the western shore of Lake Scugog in north Durham. Stamped concrete is pressed and coloured to read as slate, flagstone, cobblestone or plank. It suits a brick home above Queen Street, a lakeside lot or a rural property out in the township. Exposed aggregate and a tinted broom finish are quieter options. See our Port Perry page for everything else we do in town.
The full method, with the pattern families, the colour system, the mix and the joints, is on our stamped and decorative concrete page. This page covers what Port Perry changes about the job: the ground under the slab, the older homes, and the trip up to Scugog.
Soft lakeside ground: dig to firm base first
Lake Scugog is a shallow lake, raised by a dam at Lindsay in the 1830s. That flood left the land around the shore low and slow to drain. Close to the water the ground is often soft, organic and sometimes peaty, and it gives a slab almost nothing firm to sit on.
Every outdoor slab moves a little. On a stamped surface a small crack cuts across the stone pattern. So on a lakeside lot we dig past the soft material, bring in granular fill, compact it in layers, and pour 32 MPa air-entrained concrete. We saw the control joints along the pattern's grout lines, so shrinkage opens inside a line your eye already reads as part of the stone. The site visit is where we find out how deep the base has to go.
Older homes above Queen Street
The brick homes behind heritage Queen Street are a century old or more. Their front steps and walks have often sunk, and a stamped replacement is a way to bring them back with a better surface. We bring the manufacturer charts to the site visit and match the colour against your brick and trim, so the new surface suits the house you already have.
If you want a plainer finish beside a stamped border, we can talk through exposed aggregate or a coloured broom finish at the site visit.
Sealer, salt and the trip up
Plan to reapply the acrylic sealer every two to three years. Our sealer carries an anti-slip additive.
Port Perry is a long way from our usual routes, so we group Scugog work into planned trips and book you a real date, not a same-week promise. We quote out in Greenbank, Seagrave, Caesarea, Blackstock and Prince Albert, and on Scugog Island. We reply to every request within one business day.
Straight answers
Will a stamped patio crack on soft ground near Lake Scugog?
Any outdoor slab can move as the ground freezes, thaws and settles. We control where it moves: we dig past soft lakeside material, compact a granular base, and saw the control joints along the grout lines so shrinkage opens inside the pattern. If a failure comes from our workmanship, the lifetime warranty on labour brings us back.
Can you replace the sunken front steps on my older home above Queen Street with stamped concrete?
Yes. A stamped surface can replace worn steps and walks, and we match the colour to your brick and trim from manufacturer charts at the site visit.
Stamped, exposed aggregate or tinted broom: which suits my Port Perry home?
Stamped reads as stone, brick or plank and gives the most decorative look. Exposed aggregate shows the stone in the surface. A tinted broom finish is the quietest upgrade. We bring charts to the site visit so you can hold them against your house.
Do you pour stamped concrete outside the town, in the hamlets and on Scugog Island?
Yes. We quote across the whole township, and those jobs book onto the same planned trips up to Scugog.
How much does stamped concrete cost in Port Perry?
Stamped is priced as an upgrade over a plain broom finish. The size, the pattern, the colours, the hand detail and the base your ground needs all move the number. We do not post a figure, because it would mislead you. The free written quote itemizes the slab, the colour, the stamping and the sealing, and the number we write down is the number you pay unless you change the job.
