Stamped & Decorative Concrete in Georgetown
We pour stamped and decorative concrete in Georgetown: patios, walkways and driveway borders in slate, flagstone, cobblestone and wood-plank patterns. Georgetown's Halton Till clay and its freeze-thaw winters decide how the base under the pattern is built. Union-certified crews do the colour and stamping, the labour carries a lifetime warranty, and the written quote is free.

Stamped concrete in Georgetown mostly goes where the town has grown. Georgetown South has been filling with newer homes since 1989, and owners there often have the plain backyard the builder left and want a patio that reads as stone. The older blocks around Main and Church ask for something quieter, because a new surface has to sit next to brick and stone that have stood for generations.
Georgetown's ground changes the job. The soil is Halton Till, a stiff glacial clay-loam over Queenston shale, and clay like that heaves when frost works under a thin slab. Control joints go along the pattern's grout lines, so any shrinkage cracks land in lines that were meant to be there.
The method, pattern families, colour system and joint layout are on our stamped and decorative concrete page. This page covers what stamping a Georgetown yard asks of the crew: a base built to the real ground, a surface that sheds meltwater, a pattern chosen for the house, and a written resealing plan. The quote is free and written.
Halton Till clay: the base under the pattern
Georgetown sits on the downhill side of the Niagara Escarpment, on clay that holds meltwater and heaves with frost. South of town the shale can come up close to the surface in places, so we read the lot before we quote, dig to firm material and compact a granular base in lifts.
The slab is built to the same standard as any flatwork we pour, with a 32 MPa air-entrained mix for freeze-thaw. Control joints are saw-cut along the pattern's grout lines.
Georgetown South: wait for the fill to settle
Much of Georgetown South is built on disturbed clay fill, and a foundation backfill keeps settling for a season or two after the builder hands over the lot. A stamped pattern shows every crack, so on a brand-new lot we will often tell you to give the ground a season before the patio goes down.
Where the lot is ready, we compact the base mechanically instead of trusting fresh fill, and we grade the surface so Credit valley runoff and meltwater run away from the slab.
Sealer and pattern choice
We seal the finished surface with an acrylic sealer and an anti-slip additive, and we put the resealing plan in writing before you sign. Colour lasts with that schedule.
Near the older brick and stone of the Main Street core, quieter patterns sit best: ashlar slate or random flagstone, with a colour taken from the brick, stone or trim. On the newer streets the choice is wider. A stamped border around a broom-finish field is another way to get the look on a smaller scope. We bring manufacturer colour charts to the site visit and talk you out of anything that fights the house.
Straight answers
Does Georgetown's clay change a stamped patio?
It changes the base. We read the lot at the site visit, dig to firm material and compact a frost base in lifts to give the pattern a firm, well-drained footing.
Should I stamp a patio on a new Georgetown South lot right away?
Often not. Foundation backfill keeps settling for a season or two, and flatwork poured onto soil that is still moving cracks whatever the mix. On a brand-new lot we will often tell you to wait a season, and we will say so at the site visit.
What stamped pattern suits an older home near Main Street?
Quieter ones. Ashlar slate or random flagstone in a colour taken from the brick, stone or trim usually sits better than a bright, busy surface. We bring colour charts to the site visit and match them to your house.
How much does stamped concrete cost in Georgetown?
Stamped work is an upgrade over a standard broom slab. The pattern, the number of colours, the hand detailing, the size of the area and what the ground needs first all move the number. A free site visit gets you a written quote that lists the slab, colour, stamping and sealing separately.
