Foundation Repair in Paris, Ontario
We repair foundations in Paris: leaking cracks injected to full depth, bowing block walls held with carbon fibre straps, and a plain call on whether your crack is harmless shrinkage or needs work. The old blocks near the forks of the Grand and Nith have stone walls and lime mortar, and the newer streets west of the core have poured walls on settling backfill. The quote is free and written, and the labour carries our lifetime warranty.

Paris is two foundation towns in one. Near the forks, where the Nith River empties into the Grand, the older blocks stand on foundations as old as the cobblestone buildings the town is known for: stone walls, lime mortar and parging past its service life. On the plateau west of the core, Scenic Ridge, Scenic Ridge East and Mile Hill have newer homes on poured walls.
Most foundation cracks are not emergencies. The job is to tell the normal ones apart from the ones that matter: cracks that grow every season, cracks that leak, horizontal cracks, and stair-step cracks through block.
The full method, from epoxy and polyurethane injection to carbon fibre straps, is on our foundation repair page. This page is about what Paris's ground and its mix of old and new homes change about the job.
Old stone walls near the forks
A stone or rubble wall does not crack the way poured concrete does. It moves and weeps along its mortar joints, so one injected crack seldom fixes it. We look at the joints, the parging and the ground outside before we say what the wall needs.
Where the parging has come loose, the unsound joints are repaired first and the wall is given a new coat; see our parging work. If the real problem is water coming in across the wall, the job may be basement waterproofing in Paris rather than a crack repair.
Wet clay and the water table
The clay loam that covers central Brant holds moisture for weeks after the spring melt, and the water table under the lower streets rises with the Grand and the Nith.
So a crack repair here starts outside the wall as well as inside it. We check where the downspouts drop their water, which way the ground slopes and whether the drainage still works, and the quote names the cause along with the crack.
Newer homes in Scenic Ridge and Mile Hill
On a newer poured wall, a thin vertical crack in the first year or two is usually shrinkage. Subdivision ground is disturbed soil that keeps settling for a few seasons, and a downspout that empties beside the wall makes things worse. When one of those cracks starts to leak, polyurethane injection seals it from the inside, usually without digging.
We tell you plainly which kind of crack you have. Cracks wider than 1/4 in., growing, horizontal or offset are the ones that call for structural attention.
Straight answers
Do you do small foundation crack repairs in Paris?
Yes. One leaking crack is a welcome job. Paris sits directly on the Brant County circuit our crews drive, so in season a job here books into the next regular run. A small job gets the same free written quote as a large one.
Can you repair a crack in an old stone foundation in Paris?
Often, but a stone wall leaks and moves along its joints, so we look at how your wall is built before we quote. Unsound joints are repaired and the wall is re-parged, and where water comes in across the wall the answer may be drainage instead of one injected crack. If a repair will not hold, we say so.
My Paris basement wall is bowing. Does it need to be replaced?
Rarely. A bow under roughly 2 in. is usually held with carbon fibre straps, epoxied to the wall and anchored top and bottom. They stop the wall where it stands; they do not pull it straight. The wet clay outside pushed it in, so grading, downspouts and drainage have to stop feeding that pressure too.
My newer Scenic Ridge home has a crack in the basement wall. Is it serious?
Often it is not. Thin vertical cracks in the first year or two are normal shrinkage. A crack that leaks, grows through a season, runs horizontally or has one side sitting proud of the other is a different matter. We measure it at the free visit and tell you plainly which kind it is.
How much does foundation repair cost in Paris?
There is no honest flat rate. The type of crack, the wall, access and the cause all change the job, so we quote on inspection. The visit and the written quote are free, and the number on the quote is the number on the invoice unless you change the job.
